We had a week after our Idaho cousins and Jonathan's sister's family left and so what did we do??! We made a long awaited and needful trip to the library!! They have this AWESOME wind blower contraption now that blows scarfs up endlessly and little Josh, well everyone really, loves it! So much fun, could spend (do spend) hours at this place!! =D
Of all messes that I love seeing after coming home for the day---THIS is the kind of mess I love most!! Love seeing them diving into books and spending hours looking through and reading together! I will always treasure these library days and hopefully teaching them how wonderful it is to learn from good books! Don't ask me if we ever max out our library card on our bi-weekly trips.....haha (cuz we do! lol). Eeeeek...I know as far as keeping track, BUT I've learned to keep several bins open for JUST Library books, AND I STILL THINK IT'S WORTH ALL THE HASSLE! Hope they get a sense for how much fun it is to learn when you have lots of great resources around you! :) So fun to jump right in!
While Daddy took the older two to soccer practice, I took the younger two cuties out for a walk!! Love those smiles!! Joshy was having the TIME OF HIS LIFE hopping in that seat as miss June-bugs side-kick and first in command! So precious that smile and seeing her looking out for him! Good thing she has lots of years before getting her license lol!! She is wuite the wild and crazy driver!!Some thoughts from Conferene talks that inspired me this week were from "My Peace I Leave with You," by Pres. Henry B. Eyring. I truly am strengthened so much by reading these talks each week and I try to read bits each day. These words fill my soul with comfort, reassurance and peace. Peace that all my very best efforts are okay and that as long as I keep trying again and again each day, the Lord will be with us and continue to lead us along with His love and guidance on our way.
For our Homeschool Co-op this week, N-racer-man had an egg hunt with review questions inside! Super fun to learn history and latin conjugations that way! ;)
This girl is SUCH a great HELPER around our house!! So thankful and happy to have her big sister help each day!! Someone else seems a little glad to have those loving snuggles too! =D
Then, on April 7th, we welcomed Aunt Rebekah from Washington for her vacation visit to see family! We loved having another reason to share fun memories together! Katelyn planned a little party for her by preparing a star-cake and writing out invitations to everyone to come play games and celebrate Aunt Beka is finally here!!
The next night for our Sunday family walk, we realized we had probably had our butterflies for long enough, a little over a month, and so to let them fly free and continue in their next phase of life, we decided to set them free at the nearby lake. We took a walk together and Miss K and Isaac even got to hold them before letting them fly off into the sunset grove of trees! What a fun FIRST FAMILY PET experience that was to watch them transform from teeny tiny caterpillars to beautiful strong butterflies!! Such sweet lessons on life too! May we all work hard each day and know that our greatest strength lies in our Savior so that we may ultimately grow to become more and more like Him and share His light and love with all those around us as we become the beautiful individuals we were sent here to be too!!
On another day, we went to see the new Beauty and the Beast movie will all the kiddos! Everything is way more fun with Aunt Beka around! :)
In addition to those activities, we ventured over to a nearby discovery museum to show Aunt Beka some cool towers, lego car creations, bubble tunnels and more!
We finished that day off with some yummy fro-yo on their deal-day! Super yum!
On Rebekah's last day here, she found this awesome log cabin village place to go learn about the early settlers and history behind this area of Texas (extra special because Aunt Beka was a history major :)) and it was such a neat experience! It was almost like making a trip to Nauvoo, without having to travel so far!! The kids learned about pioneer clothing, what their log cabins used to look like, got to use a wheat grinder, and well-water pourer, see the blacksmith make a horse-shoe, see how candles were made, and see the water mill which they used to prepare their food. It was such a great exploring and learning type of day!!! Right up our alley for sure!! One highlight was going into one of their historical schoolhouses and seeing how they used the cone of shame hat for discipline (thankfully, we dont have that today), and we learned the children used to use the McGuffey Readers to learn to read, just like we use in our home today!! Lots of smiles and learning, hooray!
We loved our visit with Aunt Beka!
