After Sarah and Russell's wedding, we made the most of our Utah trip by exploring some of our favorite Utah places!
Sarah let us use her Living Planet Aquarium passes so we could experience our love of the ocean and marine creatures in Utah!! HEre are some pics of us exploring:
LOVED seeing some live nautilus' too!! One of my favorite ocean creatures, because it was the symbol of the Marine Academy of Oceanographic Sciences (MAOS) I applied for in middle school and was apart of in high school in California. Being a member of this group meant I took specialty classes in high school, so instead of just Biology in 9th grade, I took Oceanography, and we got to go on special field trips every couple months, including doing some square foot sampling of marine life in the Tide Pools of Big Sur, using an ROV off the Monterey Bay Coast, rafting in the estuaries of Moss Landing and dissecting some cool creatures including frogs, squids and worms. I loved my Monterey, CA coast experience, because we were also members of the Monterey Bay Aquarium, where we would go almost every weekend...and explore the tide pools, memorize the fascinating creatures like sea cucumbers, gumboot chitons, purple sea urchins and feeding them kelp, abalone, turkish towel kelp, Ulva kelp, sea grapes, dead mans fingers, hermit crabs and return to the bat ray touch pools over and over again! They are so soft, slippery, but firm and smooth to the touch! I loved feeding them and finding the best ways to call them over! This was one of the highlights of my teen-aged childhood years! Love marine animals!!!
Then, we spent time with grandpa and grandma in their hot tub, watched the deer come to the window, and enjoyed visiting with Aunt Jessica, Hadlie, Christian and our newest cousin/nephew, baby Eric!!! (Sarah and Michael's little one!) SO sweet to meet him and spend a few short hours together!
Then, we had a few extra days in town...so we headed to one of our all time favorite museums at Thanksgiving Point to explore dinosaurs, sand, water, the curisoity museum and more! Fun times learning together! Katelyn's favorite was the gigantic ancient sea turtle, Nathan liked the Tylosaur, and Gracie was all smiles (not sure what her picture is with! haha)
AAHHHHH!! A Meglodon shark!!
Happy dinosaur fossil dig and model airplane play! Happy times in Utah!
